INN AMENITIES
Afternoon Tea
Each afternoon, the innkeepers will offer arriving and returning guests a sweet or savory option, based upon local produce availability. On many occasions, there may fruit-based pastries fabricated with apples, pears, cherries, peaches, or apricots picked at local orchards or even berries harvested from our gardens. From time to time, the innkeepers have served banana nut bread, pear clafouti, French orange cake, cherry tartlets, and apple-nut cookies, among other baked goods. On occasion, there may be platters of fresh fruits and New York State cheeses; at other times, fresh vegetable salsas or home-made hummus with assorted crackers and flat breads. These items are typically served with hot tea or a cool fruit beverage, depending on weather conditions. The daily menu is posted in the Downing Breakfast Room. Afternoon tea is typically self-service, as guests come and go at different hours.
Guests returning from a day of wine, cider, beer or other beverage tastings are invited to bring back their drink of choice. Danskammer House will provide stemware, ice, and refrigeration, as desired. There is a wine store and a bakery shop just a few steps away for guests who would like to patronize our local merchants. The innkeepers are always happy to suggest other artisanal suppliers in the region who offer specialty products made here in the Hudson Valley.
Depending on the season, afternoon tea may be taken on the Cole Front Porch, the Olmsted Patio, or the third-floor Church Lounge. Trays, dishware, stemware, and napkins are available for guests to carry tea items to their preferred seating location.
