LOCATION

The George Inness Suite is located on the northeast corner of the second floor with east-facing windows that look down to the B&B’s formal garden and village center and, at a higher plane, to the Hudson River and Taconic Mountains in the distance.  The room is beautifully bathed in soft morning light.  The suite is equipped with a queen-size bed, an ensuite bathroom, and a private closet.

FURNISHINGS

Bedroom furnishings include a hand-crafted, maple bed in Shaker style made by Amish craftsmen, a reading and writing table, two side chairs, a console table, and multiple lamps.  Hand-knotted rugs highlight the refinished, original knotty pine floors.  The ensuite closet is stocked with luggage racks, storage boxes, and clothing hangers.  Extra amenities include a hair dryer, extra pillows, and a down comforter.

COLOR PALETTE

The focal point for the bedroom is a locally inspired scene entitled “Pond at Milton-on-the-Hudson” painted by George Inness in the early 1880s at his nearby summer studio.  The spring landscape of fruit trees in bloom highlights shades of lavender, purple, and cream, whose colorations are further complemented by fabrics and rugs assembled to enhance the spring-time atmosphere of the suite.
