George Inness Suite

George Inness Suite

The George Inness Suite is located on the northeast corner of the second floor. Its centerpiece is Inness’s locally derived 1881 scene entitled Pond at Milton-on-the-Hudson, and the painting’s lavender, purple, and cream colorations are diffused throughout the room. From its two windows, the room enjoys soft morning light, and guests can look down to the herb garden below, the village center in the foreground, and the Hudson River and Taconic Mountains on the horizon. The room is equipped with a queen-size bed, an ensuite bathroom and a private closet. Furnishings include a hand-made, maple bed by Amish craftsmen in Shaker style, a reading and writing table, two side chairs, a console table, and multiple lamps. Oriental rugs highlight the refinished, original knotty pine floors. The Inness Room is equipped with a Mitsubishi ductless unit affording guests control of their heating and cooling environment. The guest suite also offers an individually controlled ceiling fan in the bedroom and energy-boost heater in the bathroom.
