LOCATION

The Sanford Gifford Suite is located on the southeast corner of the second floor with four windows bathing the room with sunlight throughout the day.   The east-facing windows afford panoramic views over the village center, the Hudson River, eastern river hills, and the Taconic Mountains in the distance.  Our largest suite offers a king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom, and a private closet.

FURNISHINGS

Bedroom furnishings include a hand-crafted Amish sleigh bed in native cherry, a drop-leaf reading and writing table, two side chairs, a console table, and multiple lamps. Oriental rugs highlight the refinished, original knotty pine floors.  The ensuite closet is stocked with luggage racks, storage boxes, and clothing hangers.  Extra amenities include a hair dryer, extra pillows, and a down comforter.

COLOR PALETTE

The painterly landscape is Gifford’s river-edge perspective entitled “Marshes of the Hudson, ” which evokes the late fall atmosphere of the current nature sanctuary at Constitution Marsh opposite West Point Military Academy.    The painting’s color palette of season-ending yellows and golds, along with touches of burgundy and russet, is echoed in the yellow walls, claret rugs, and autumnal-shaded textiles used for window swags, chair seats, and decorative pillows.

BATHROOM

The private bathroom is fully equipped with custom, high-quality fixtures, including a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet, as well as multiple hanger bars and racks for storing bathroom amenities.   Designed in warm, neutral shares of cream, beige, and taupe, the Gifford bathroom features a patterned Italian tile floor, subway-tiled shower, granite-topped sink, white porcelain fixtures, and chrome accessories.   The bathroom is also outfitted with a supplemental energy-boost heater and a powerful, yet quiet, ventilation system.   The bathroom’s east-facing, fully operable window introduces early morning light into the environment in all seasons.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The Gifford Suite is equipped with a Mitsubishi ductless unit affording individual guest control of the heating and cooling system; air circulation is further supplemented by a ceiling fan.  Four new windows in period style are fully operable and introduce lots of exterior light and fresh air into the bedroom environment.  The upgraded electrical system provides ample outlets and also includes a charging block for electronic devices.  Robust WiFI is available ensuite and in all public rooms; additionally, cable connectors and ethernet ports support flat-screen TV service in several shared spaces on the first and third floors.
